Scudder Hill House is close to skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, parks, lakes, reservoir fishing, golf, and several restaurants. Just across the street from us is Lake Wawaka where you may take a stroll or rent a kayak. Shopping and sightseeing are just minutes away in Roxbury and the town of Margaretville.

Also nearby, only minutes from us, are Plattekill, Belleayre, Windham & Hunter Mountains which offer skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Now offering SHH & Barn for Events May till October. BARN has electric, farm tables & bar made from wood on property. Ski House Rental December till March.

Weddings

We are under 2 and up to 5 miles of most wedding site establishments in this area.

Inquire about hosting your wedding at the Scudder Hill House & Barn with beautifully done electrical work, farm tables, benches and bar made from wood on property, as well as baby beer barn with taps, along with fence in parking lot for curb-side appeal. Trails, open fields, fire pits, tons of wildflowers.

Tubing

On a hot summer day, float down the Esopus Creek for two hours after you have rented a tube from the Town Tinker which is located in the town of Phoenicia off Rte 28. Enjoy the lazy hazy days of summer.

Bowling

On those rainy afternoons, take a ride to the Margaretville Bowling alley located on Rte 28 and have a few hours of fun. Currently under renovation; new owners.

Train Ride

Located on Route 28 in the town of Arkville and less than ten minutes away, the Arkville depot offers you a scenic ride through the beautiful Catskill Mountains aboard the historic Delaware & Ulster Railroad.

Chairlift Rides and Hiking Trails

In the summer, ride the chairlifts at Plattekill and Belleayre Mountains where you can take in views of the mountains. Trails are also open for hikers.

Rock Climbing

For trad climbers, the Shawangunks Mountains (The Gunks) offers a great range of climbing. It is located in New Paltz, which is one exit south of us off the NYS Thruway.
